Outer Banks season 2 has come and gone, and we’re waiting for Outer Banks season 3. The good news is the wait is almost over because the new season hits Netflix on Thursday, Feb. 23!

The Netflix original follows a group of teens who, after John B.’s dad goes missing, have to act fast to figure out what exactly happened. Actor Chase Stokes plays the main character John B., alongside Madelyn Cline as his girlfriend Sarah Cameron, Madison Bailey as Kie, Rudy Pankow as JJ, and Jonathan Daviss as Pope.

Fans of the show were delighted to find out last year that the two main stars, Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline, were actually dating in real life. But with a breakup and so many rumors going around, what’s the truth? Are the two co-stars still dating in 2023?

Are Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline still together in 2023?

Unfortunately, we can confirm Stokes and Cline are not dating in 2023. People Magazine reported in November 2021 that the two stars called it quits after a year of dating. It’s hard to say when exactly the couple broke things off. In the summer of 2021, Cline traveled to Europe to film Knives Out 2, and it looked like they were still together in July when Outer Banks season 2 was released in late July 2021.

In April 2021, Cline posted a series of photos to her Instagram in celebration of her one-year anniversary with her co-star. She tagged Stokes in two photos and wrote in the caption, “Thanks for helping me keep track of my belongings for a whole year (: adore u.” Stokes also shared a photo to his Instagram to commemorate their anniversary, adding a simple caption of “365 w/ u [heart emoji].” The two have since deleted their posts.

Who is Chase Stokes dating in 2023?

As of 2023, it looks like Stokes is off the market again and is dating country music star Kelsea Ballerini. According to Us Weekly, the two first sparked romance rumors in January after they were spotted hanging out at the College Football Playoff National Championship in Los Angeles. They’ve since shared public Instagram exchanges and in February, the musician teased a quick glimpse of the two sitting in bed together on TikTok.

Who is Madelyn Cline dating in 2023?

At the time of this writing, the identity of Cline’s current boyfriend hasn’t been revealed, but there are rumors. According to J-14, the Sarah actress was linked to singer-songwriter Jackson Guthy as recently as December 2022, but nothing has been confirmed. It was reported in an interview with The Cut from December that Cline does have a boyfriend, however, and it seems to be serious.

“Days after the Los Angeles premiere of Glass Onion, I meet Cline again at the Malibu home she shares with her boyfriend and dogs, a sprawling yet cozy estate set against the backdrop of the Santa Monica Mountains,” The Cut reporter wrote. At this time, the “boyfriend” mentioned is up for speculation.

Back in 2021, there were rumors swirling that Cline was dating 13 Reasons Why and To All The Boys star Ross Butler. However, the actor denied anything romantic was going on to TMZ.

Stokes spoke with People in 2021 on his experience working with Cline, sharing: “It’s been a lot of fun to drive together to work, come home and throw ideas off of each other about different scenes, collaborating, watching her get excited about her work and be her cheerleader.”

We’ll see what happens to John B and Sarah in Outer Banks season 3. Fans are hoping, of course, that the on-screen couple stays together.
