Critics are raving about the new Candyman film starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and many subscribers would like to know if they can check out the horror film on Netflix.

The original Candyman film that had Tony Todd in the titular role was released in theaters in 1992 was actually based on the 1985 short story The Forbidden from the collection titled Books of Blood by author Clive Barker. While Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh and Candyman: Day of the Dead were follow-ups that saw Todd reprise the role, the 2021 Candyman feature acts as a direct sequel to the first in the franchise.

In the new movie, Aquaman and Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars in the latest entry as struggling artist Anthony McCoy, who looks to Cabrini-Green and the legend of the infamous Candyman for inspiration. But instead, he unleashes a force unlike anything else with some shocking revelations into the lore of the franchise.

The entire affair has been successful at the box office and has been praised by critics earning a Certified Fresh designation on Rotten Tomatoes. Obviously, there are undoubtedly a number of reasons to see the well-crafted motion picture, and it makes sense why Netflix subscribers would curiously inquire into its availability on the popular streamer.

Is Candyman available on Netflix?

The Nia DaCosta-directed feature is arguably one of the best horror movies of 2021, and it would be excellent if Netflix subscribers could enjoy the thought-provoking as well as terrifying experience. But unfortunately, that latest chapter in the franchise is not on the streamer.

It really isn’t ideal that the new chapter of the legendary franchise isn’t on Netflix, but subscribers should know they have many other exemplary options when it comes to scary flicks. Movies such as Death Note, Cadaver, the Fear Street trilogy, Blood Red Sky and Army of the Dead are just a few examples of what Netflix has to offer in the horror department.

Where you can watch Candyman
