This year for the Halloween season, Netflix is doing an outstanding job bringing some awesome spooky features. There are many great films and shows in the horror genre for your viewing pleasure. There are also many great titles we wish we could see on the streamer and many that have us scratching our heads, wondering if they will be available. One film that viewers are curious about is the original Halloween film from 1978.

In the late ’70s, horror viewers were introduced to the child named Michael Myers, who decided to take a butcher knife to his teenage sister after a night of trick-or-treating. There was no reason for his attack; he just stood there in his little clown costume and brutally murdered his sibling. Fifteen years later, he escapes from a mental institute and returns to Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.

Michael Myers would be a marker for many other slasher villains throughout the history of horror. There are numerous films in the Halloween franchise. Some are outstanding, others we would rather just forget about.

So, the question remains.

Is Halloween on Netflix?

The sad news is no, the original Halloween movie from 1978 will not be available on Netflix for the 2021 Halloween season.

Where to watch Halloween

Halloween is a film that is extremely popular during October. After all, it is named after the October holiday, so it makes sense. So, where can you see this film? Shudder and Hoopla are the two streamers who have this film available.

The newest installment of this film, Halloween Kills, will premiere in theaters on Oct. 15. It will also be available on Peacock for 60 days with paid tiers of that service. This film was supposed to be released in 2020 but was held off because of the pandemic. The direct sequel to this film, Halloween Ends, is scheduled for an Oct. 14, 2022 release date.

But don’t count Netflix out for your horror viewing pleasure. Be sure to check out Hell Fest, The Babysitter and its sequel, Hush and Eli to get your blood pumping this Halloween season.
