Virgin River renewed for season 4 and season 5 at Netflix

Pack your bags and get ready for an extra long return trip to Virgin River. TV Line reports that Netflix has renewed the romantic drama series for not one but TWO more seasons.

Following the double renewal, fans can breathe easier knowing that the season 3 cliffhanger will officially be answered in Virgin River season 4. Not only that, but whatever season 4 happens to have in store will continue in Virgin River season 5.

The news comes after the fourth season renewal was unofficially confirmed as word of filming being underway broke late this summer. It’s no surprise Netflix is betting big on the drama series since it hit the peak of the top 10 and ended Manifest’s winning streak.

There’s no doubt Virgin River ranks as one of the most popular shows on Netflix, and it still has plenty of gas left in its tank. After all, we still need to find out who shot Jack. But does this two-season renewal mean it’s the end of the road for the series? Here’s what we know.

Is Virgin River canceled?

Obviously, no — Virgin River isn’t canceled. Netflix just renewed the show for two more seasons! However, some fans may be understandably worried that season 4 and season 5 will be the final seasons since they were ordered at the same time. Is that the case?

At this time, Netflix hasn’t confirmed whether these are the final seasons of the series, but if we were to place a bet on the guilty pleasure series, this isn’t the end of the road. Multi-season renewals don’t always equate to end dates, and we’re optimistic that’s true here.

Virgin River season 4 release date

Since the fourth season appears to be in production as of September 2021 and has been reported by Hollywood North to wrap sometime in November 2021, we’ll be reunited with Mel and Jack sooner rather than late. But how soon exactly?

Even though Virgin River season 3 skipped its usual fall launch and surprised us with a summer release date, we’re not totally expecting another significant bump to its release date. For now, we’re predicting season 4 will debut in summer 2022, though things can always change.

As for the Virgin River season 5 release date, the season could quickly start production after a short hiatus when season 4 wraps, making room for a late 2022 release or an early 2023 debut. We’ll keep you up to date all the latest release date details.
