Is the LuLaRoe documentary on Netflix?
From the creators of the 2020 Netflix documentary, The Pharmacist, and 2019 Hulu Documentary, Fyre Fraud, Jenna Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason, LuLaRich tells the story of a billion-dollar clothing company that has been accused of posturing itself as nothing more than a multi-level marketing scheme.
For years, LuLaRoe touted themselves as a way for everyday people, mostly women, to take control of their lives and thrive as their own boss. With a startup fee of $5,000 or so, people would become salespeople for the company, hosting parties or marketing on social media platforms. The problem was, very few made money. This bleak reality led to some labeling the company as a pyramid scheme, multiple lawsuits and a tainted image.
LuLaRich tells the story of how everyday people lost thousands of dollars and were stuck with large amounts of merchandise they struggled to sell, all the while LuLaRoe made billions. It details the downfall of the company and the tarnished image that now represents the clothing company.
In addition to telling the story, LuLaRich features an exclusive interview with the company’s founders, DeAnne and Mark Stidham. The creators expertly contrast the interview footage with footage from others, detailing a much more grim picture than the one the Stidhams attempt to paint. This is one of the numerous editing techniques the creators use to express their message.
