One of the strongest, wittiest and best-written comedies on TV right now is What We Do in the Shadows. Based on the movie of the same name, the FX comedy started its third season on Sept. 2, 2021. With this comedy taking audiences by storm, it is understandable that streaming fans want to know if they can quench their thirst for the show on Netflix.

Set in modern-day Staten Island, What We Do in the Shadows follows four vampires, Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, and Colin Robinson, alongside Guillermo, Nandor’s familiar, as they attempt to live their immortal lives in present-day society. While Nandor, Lazslo, and Nadja present the common look of the stereotypical vampire, Colin Robinson gets his fix as an energy vampire, working a mundane 9-5 cubicle job where he drains the energy of his coworkers with boring, dry conversation.

What We Do in the Shadows does a great job of exploring the complexities of modern human existence through the lens of ancient, immortal vampires, and relishing in the comedic value that provides. The show is filmed in the documentary-style format that the former Netflix show, The Office, used. This includes exasperated Jim Halpert-style glances to the camera, breaking down the fourth wall.

Fans of shows like The Office, Ash vs Evil Dead and Seinfeld, and comedy fans in general, can expect to enjoy and want to binge What We Do in the Shadows as the show puts a creative spin on the genres that those shows defined. With comparisons to those classic shows, it is expected that people want to know if they can watch this show with a subscription to Netflix.

Is What We Do in the Shadows on Netflix?

The only downside to What We Do in the Shadows is that it is currently not available on Netflix. Since FX and Hulu currently have an agreement in place, it is unlikely that these likable characters will make their Netflix debut anytime soon.

Until then, viewers can rest easy knowing that Netflix is home to other comedies like Ash vs Evil Dead and Happy!
