Now that Netflix has officially saved Manifest, it’s time for fans to get excited to reunite with our favorite passengers from Flight 828. Of course, when Manifest season 4 debuts as a Netflix original series, we’ll also be reunited with some of our least favorite passengers.

But with the final season confirmed, fans are hungry for any and every detail they can get about the upcoming 20 episodes. Not that we want to rush the creative team after pulling off a remarkable feat of being un-canceled, but Manifesters are a curious bunch. Can you blame us?

Manifest season 4 has a lot of ground to cover, and we’re not just talking about the aftermath of the unbelievable season 3 finale cliffhanger. We’re in the thick of the endgame now, folks, (relationships and all!) and it’s the moment Rake and the writers have been building toward since takeoff.

When exactly does the Manifest writers’ room get back to work on the recently resurrected show, and what does that start date mean for the eventual release date? Fasten your seatbelts, we’re talking everything we know so far about what’s to come for Manifest on Netflix.

Manifest season 4

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the series getting saved by the streamer for a final season, creator Jeff Rake spoke about when he and the writers and getting back together (virtually) to start crafting what will become the final chapter for Flight 828.

Rake told EW:

"“The writers’ room is opening up this week. I’m already having preliminary conversations with my deputies, and we’ll all be officially getting in the room together — or the Zoom room together — by the end of the week. We couldn’t be more excited.”"

It looks like writers are getting back into piecing the final season together in the beginning of September, most likely following the Labor Day holiday. As Rake stated in the EW interview, he has already gone through the exercise of expediting the end of the series when he prepared to conclude Manifest in a two-hour wrap-up movie.

Having already threaded that needle, Rake and the writers will next have to spread out the last pieces of the puzzle throughout season 4’s 20-episode order. After the writers start working on outlining and writing the scripts, cameras could very well start rolling by the end of the year.

Although it’s too soon to estimate when Manifest season 4 will hit our watch lists, the earliest we could imagine the first batch of episodes will premiere is spring or summer 2022. Once production gets underway, we should know more information about the release date.
