There are some excellent shows and movies on Netflix throughout the week, and it’s not all about the Sept. 1 drop. Here are five top picks to check out.

The first of the month does bring a big drop. That makes it difficult to work through everything. There’s that overwhelming feeling that leads to you just flicking through the options rather than choosing something to actually watch.

That’s why we bring you a list of the top picks. A lot of the time, it can mean slowly working through the first of the month drop, but this week, there are some great shows and movies on Netflix to check out toward the end.

Not sure what to watch? Here are five top picks depending on your mood.

5 must-watch shows and movies on Netflix this week

Green Lantern

Look, this movie gets a bad reputation but it really wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. Plus, it brought Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds together, and who doesn’t love them as a celebrity couple?

The movie follows a very standard superhero story, sure. But when you’re in need of something entertaining and just fun to get over Hump Day, Green Lantern is going to be it.

It drops on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Afterlife of the Party

Victoria Justice is back, and this time we get a sort of Russian Doll theme to it. Justice plays Cassie, a young girl who just likes to party. Is there anything wrong with that? Well, on her birthday weekend, she’s killed in a freak accident and she doesn’t get to move on.

Her afterlife becomes a chance for her to make up for past mistakes. She needs to right all her wrongs if she wants to move on. That’s where the Russian Doll element sort of comes into it.

Check out Afterlife of the Party on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Hotel Del Luna

If you love foreign-language shows and movies on Netflix, you’re in a lot of luck this week. There are two you’ll want to check out and the first is Hotel Del Luna.

The Korean drama series is set in a hotel. This isn’t just any hotel, though. The exclusive hotel only caters to ghosts, and the CEO is cursed to deal with them due to a terrible crime that she committed and now can’t remember.

Watch the full series on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Money Heist

The second of the foreign-language shows is one of the most popular European shows on Netflix. It’s all about Money Heist. The first half of the final season arrives this week.

The series doesn’t really need any introduction. This final season is set to blow everything wide open, but will everyone left be able to make it out alive? You’ll have to wait to find out.

The first half of season 5 drops on Friday, Sept. 3.

The last of the options is a movie. Worth is a biopic that focuses on a lawyer who wants to get justice for the victims of 9/11. It’s all based on a true story, and tells the harrowing tale Kenneth Feinberg went through.

Nobody wants to offer justice. After all, can you get justice for a terrorist attack? Feinberg battled cynicism and bureaucracy to prove that it should be possible.

The movie is available to stream on Friday, Sept. 3.
