It’s time for a new romantic comedy, Netflix fans! He’s All That starring Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan has just premiered on the platform today and it promises some good laughs and sweet moments. If you’re not familiar with the new flick, it’s a gender-swapped remake of the 1999 classic She’s All That. Remember that one starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook?

He’s All That is an updated version, complete with TikTok dances, Instagram Live sessions, and, like the original, tons of drama. The movie follows protagonist Padgett Sawyer (Rae), who makes a bet with her friend to turn a weird kid at school, Cameron, (Buchanan) into the Prom King. Of course, along the way, Padgett starts to form real feelings for Cameron. The two share genuine and vulnerable moments where they open up about their home lives and what they want out of their future.

Everything’s going great for the pair, but of course, there’s something weighing on Padgett. She hasn’t told Cameron about the bet and she knows everything could be ruined if she does.

Fans will be pleasantly surprised to see Rachael Leigh Cook has a role in the new movie, playing the part of Padgett’s hardworking mom. Even Matthew Lillard, who played the role of Brock in She’s All That, makes a quick appearance toward the end of He’s All That. So what about Freddie Prinze Jr.? Does he show up at all in the Netflix flick?

He’s All That cast

While there are a couple of ’90s icons in He’s All That, unfortunately Freddie Prinze Jr. isn’t one of them. Apparently, he was offered a role in the new movie, but he turned it down. During an interview with People earlier this year, Cook revealed, “It ended up not being a good fit for him, but he and the creative team are behind it are totally cool.”

Cook went on to recall her conversation with her former co-star, saying:

"“He said, ‘It’s not going to work out for me, but I totally obviously support you doing whatever you want with this. Go run with it — I’ll support this movie all the way and everyone involved.'”"

Although Prinze unfortunately couldn’t take on a role in He’s All That, the movie is still star-studded for both older and younger audiences. Besides Cook and Lillard, we’ve of course got TikTok star Addison Rae, Cobra Kai‘s Tanner Buchanan, and Disney Channel alum Madison Pettis. Kourtney Kardashian also makes an appearance!

We’re looking forward to maybe one day Prinze and Cook reuniting on our screens, but in the meantime, be sure to stream He’s All That on Netflix right now.
