What is He’s All That about?

Netflix is rounding out its August teen programming with He’s All That, a remake of the ’90s classic teen romcom She’s All That, which genderswaps the original story.

It’s a tale as old as social cliques and reputation savers, Padgett Sawyer is an It girl at her school with a boyfriend to match. They’re as perfect as an Instagram filter, and their relationship has been her popularity currency.

Too bad being faithful wasn’t high on his priority list because her livecast broadcasting to her followers just how out of the loop she was about his intentions lands Padgett in a serious social media storm. Caught out and in desperate need of a branding shift, this influencer is willing to do what it takes to get the focus off her bad break-up.

If that means taking Cameron Kweller under her wing and refashioning him from hobo nobody to a dashing prom king then so be it. The task shouldn’t be too hard. Padgett’s a whiz at spin, appearance, and staying on message. Or…at least she was.

With all eyes on her, she’ll have to make the case for Cameron, but in doing so might find out more about herself than she anticipated. Maybe what everyone else thinks isn’t as important as she thought. Maybe there’s more than a diamond in the rough beneath Cameron’s slacker exterior and sarcastic attitude. His heart and view of the world could be exactly what Padgett needs in her life.

He’s All That premieres Friday, August 27. The Netflix original movie will feature Rachel Leigh Cook as Padgett’s mother, Anne. Fans of She’s All That will remember Cook played Laney Boggs, opposite Freddie Prinze Jr. as Zack Siler in the original.
