We shared a list of the five best shows on Netflix this weekend (August 21-22, 2021). We picked some of the best Netflix shows of the summer for you to check out this weekend.

Netflix has given us many great shows so far in 2021, with many more to come. As summer winds down, don’t think that Netflix will stop releasing the good stuff. We still have Locke and Key, You, Sex Education, The Witcher and Money Heist on the way very soon!

Once again, the Netflix top 10 TV shows list has Outer Banks and All American at No. 1 and No. 2. Bake Squad is a new addition, and Grace and Frankie have once again joined the ranks as the seventh season was recently released. Hit and Run and The Defeated are also new series on the list.

Best shows on Netflix

Outer Banks

Outer Banks has once again wowed its viewers with its second season. Fans loved the first season, but the second upped the adventure and intrigue, which made for an even better storyline.

The story may seem like a teen series, and it is, but this series is for everyone. The story doesn’t seem as goofy as many teen series can be, and the mystery behind the treasure is fascinating.

If you haven’t given this one a try, you really should; I think you will be surprised.

Virgin River

In July, the third season of the Netflix originals series Virgin River was released. Fans of the series had their summer binge queued and ready.

The story follows Mel, a midwife and nurse practitioner who wants to start a new life. She chooses the town of Virgin River in Northern California as she thinks small-town living will be ideal for a fresh start.

To show you how popular Virgin River is, it has beaten Manifest in Nielsen’s streaming charts. According to DeadlineVirgin River had 2.1 billion viewing minutes in July, where Manifest had 1.3 billion.

The series stars Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette O’Toole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen and Marco Grazzini.

Virgin River season 4 is already filming!

Never Have I Ever

Created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever centers around Devi, a first-generation Indian American girl from Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.

Devi has many of the usual teenage pressures to deal with compounded with the heartbreaking loss of her father. In season 2, Devi finds it too hard to choose between two love interests and decides to take on both as significant others.

The series has been renewed for season 3. The returning cast will include Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, Ramona Young, with narration from John McEnroe.

Sweet Tooth

This fantasy drama is as sweet as its name. Sweet Tooth has vast amounts of fantasy sprinkled with many feel-good moments. It is an endearing tale of Gus, a half-human, half deer hybrid. The hybrid children appear after “The Great Crumble,” which is a viral pandemic. It is uncertain if the virus caused the mutations or not. Many people fear and hunt the hybrids, so Gus’s life is always on the run. Luckily he has made some great friends along the way.

Staring Nonso Anozie, Christian Convery, Adeel Akhtar, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Aliza Vellani, and Will Forte with James Brolin as the narrator.

The series is based on a comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire and has been renewed for a second season.

Bridgerton

This isn’t technically a summer series. Even though it was released in December 2020, it is still very binge-able, and the Regency’s season is set in the summer. Bridgerton’s first season took Netflix by storm and the second is sure to do the same.

The first season told the story of Daphne, the eldest Bridgerton daughter, and her quest to find a perfect love match. The series was full of beautiful costumes and beautiful people, for that matter. We meet many characters we love and others we loathe. The Regency fans were excited to see the period played out on the screen, and many others were introduced to the beauty that is the Regency.

The second season will give us Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s story and his search for a bride. This is sure to be another amazing chapter in the Bridgerton story.

This series has already been renewed for season 2, season 3, and season 4.

Have a great weekend and enjoy some great binge-able features on Netflix.
