Queen + Adam Lambert have been touring together since 2012 and are the center of the 2019 documentary The Show Must Go On. Some fans have not been impressed with Lambert serving as frontman, comparing him to Freddie Mercury, whose role no one can come close to replacing.
But this is exactly why they call themselves Queen + Adam Lambert because this is something different, and I think Freddie would wholeheartedly approve. The documentary The Show Must Go On chronicles the story of Lambert taking the stage with rock legends Brian May and Roger Taylor.
If you don’t know much about Queen, they are a group of four of the most talented musicians ever, who formed a magnificent band that has revolutionized the music world. In 1970, Brian May and Roger Taylor welcomed Freddie Mercury and John Deacon to join them as the band Queen. Their music has spanned generations and stood the test of time. Their performance at Live Aid was the most brilliant performance of that event, possibly ever.
The documentary’s title, The Show Must Go On, is also a song by Queen that would be included in the final album Mercury would ever create with the band called Innuendo. Queen’s songs are credited to the band as a whole, but May wrote most of this song, which is a tribute to Mercury’s end of life struggle to continue to perform during his battle with AIDS, which would eventually be the cause of his death.
