Will Stranger Things season 4 be released in fall 2021?

Stranger Things season 4 is in the works! Now, we know that we’ll learn the Stranger Things season 4 release date sometime soon (possibly in August 2021!), thanks to executive producer and director Shawn Levy’s interview with Collider.

The original interview/story has been updated to clarify that the release date might not be announced soon, but there will be something released soon. Teaser trailer 003, maybe?

We also learned that Stranger Things season 4 is almost done filming, which is leading a whole bunch of fans to start to ponder when Stranger Things season 4 is coming to Netflix. Some fans have been following along, trying to figure out the release date the whole time. Others are just starting to wonder. We have some updates for you!

With production wrapping in August, the earliest that we could expect to see a new season of a Netflix original show is sometime in the fall. Will that happen for Stranger Things season 4?

Is Stranger Things season 4 coming soon?

There’s a small, small, small chance that Stranger Things season 4 could be released this fall. We’ve already seen one season of the show in the fall. Season 2 was released in October.

But, that’s too short of a gap between the end of production and the release of the season. At the early, early, earliest, we’ll see Stranger Things season 4 at the very end of November or early December. That’s how much time is needed, at a minimum, to release the season, and that’s assuming they’ve been working on post-production and VFX as the season is still filming.

Ultimately, a fall 2021 release date for Stranger Things season 4 is a long shot. After the final cut is done, the show has to be translated into dozens of different languages. The VFX takes a long time to do, and we can expect a lot of visual effects in season 4 with everything going on.

I think we’re going to be waiting a long time for Stranger Things season 4, honestly. There should be at least a six-month gap between the end of production and the release of the season. That puts the earliest release date for the season in February 2022, just in time for Valentine’s Day. I would LOVE to see that!

There are also some rumors that Stranger Things season 4 is coming in April 2022.

This will all be confirmed soon. Unfortunately, a 2021 release date is just looking to be too early for Stranger Things season 4 to be released, especially with all the big Netflix shows coming later this year, like You season 3, The Witcher season 2, Cobra Kai season 4, Money Heist season 5 and more.
