Celebrations are in order for fans of the Netflix original series Sex/Life. After enjoying breakthrough success this summer, Sex/Life season 2 is reportedly already in the works at Netflix ahead of an official and formal renewal announcement from the streamer.

It’s no big surprise that Netflix would double down on the buzzy erotic drama series since all of that buzz surrounding Sex/Life shot the newbie straight to the higher rung of the streamer’s Top 10 ranking. It also doesn’t hurt that a viral moment had everyone watching.

The series centers on housewife and mother Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi) as she journals through her feelings about the hot and steamy relationship she shared with her bad boy ex Brad (Adam Demos), much to the chagrin and jealousy of her husband Cooper (Mike Vogel).

Following eight episodes of push and pull for Billie, she made a shocking decision at the end of season 1, which more than primes Sex/Life season 2 for another wild ride through the past, present and future of Billie’s personal life. So, is the series renewed for season 2?

Is Sex/Life season 2 happening?

According to a report from What’s on Netflix, Sex/Life has been renewed for a second season behind the scenes, and we’re merely waiting for the official announcement from the streamer. Since the series has been out since June 25, the announcement should be coming soon.

Of course, Netflix has a number of high-profile release date reveals up its sleeve (ahem, Stranger Things season 4), and Sex/Life season 2 is just one of them. Even though the series looks to be moving forward, the new season definitely won’t be coming in 2021.

However, What’s on Netflix adds that filming on the second season looks to be getting underway sooner rather than later, which puts the series in contention for a spring or summer 2022 release date along with other anticipated originals like Sweet Magnolias season 2 and Dead to Me season 3.
