A new animated musical is making its way to Netflix. Vivo is ready to sing and dance its way into subscribers’ hearts with its messages on love, family, and friendship.

When a kinkajou, also known as a rainforest honey bear, befriends a local musician named Andrés, the two become the best matched pair in town. They share a similar groove and outlook on music and life.

Be prepared for original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a score by Alex Lacamoire that will have you bopping along with this adventure especially when Gloria Estefan begins to sing as Marta. In this film, she plays a well-loved famous musician who reaches out to Andrés.

Their past is the catalyst for Vivo‘s heartwarming story. Here’s what else we know about the Netflix original movie.

Vivo synopsis

The synopsis via Netflix:

"A one-of-kind kinkajou (voiced by Lin-Manuel Miranda), embarks on an unforgettable, musical adventure to deliver a love song to Marta (voiced by Gloria Estefan) on behalf of his owner Andrés (Buena Vista Social Club’s Juan De Marcos)."

Along the way, Vivo the kinkajou will meet Gabi (Ynairaly Simo) and must work with her to fulfill his mission to deliver Andrés’ love song. However, while Vivo is used to sliding into the familiar rhythm of his friend, he and Gabi won’t be so perfectly matched at first.

Gabi’s personality is as big and loud as her clothing and hair. She fully embraces who she is. For the quieter kinkajou this will take some getting used to, but their different dynamic is one he comes to rely on. And, it’s a good thing he does because getting to Marta isn’t going to be easy. But with a bit of luck, a song in their hearts, and help from newfound friends, they may just be able to carry out this mission on Andrés’ behalf.
