What is The Vault on Netflix about?

We all love a good money heist, and Netflix made sure to add a new film to its platform that is about just that! The Vault landed on Netflix on July 31, 2021, and has made a home at No. 2 on Netflix’s top 10 movies in the U.S. today list and No. 4 on the top 10 overall list.

The Vault is doing well for itself to have only been on the streamer for three days! We have to give it up to the amazing cast for how successful this movie is doing.

The cast of The Vault is very diverse, with The Good Doctor star Freddie Highmore starring in the leading role as Thom, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides actress Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey playing Lorraine, Maleficent actor Sam Riley portraying James and many more talented actors!

We’ve seen how well Netflix’s original series Money Heist has performed on the streamer with its two seasons and five parts. So it comes as no surprise that Netflix would acquire The Vault to add to their success! Now we knowThe Vault is about a money heist, but what is it specifically about?

What is The Vault about?

The Vault is a Spanish action-thriller directed by Spanish director Jaume Balagueró. It was released in select theaters in the U.S. and on Video on Demand on March 26, 2021.

The movie is about a brilliant engineer (Thom) who is offered the opportunity of a lifetime by a marine archaeologist (Walter) to infiltrate the Bank of Spain and acquire lost gold from a secure vault. Walter initially extracts the gold from a shipwreck, but the Spanish government seizes it and locks it up in a vault in the bank.

Thom and his crew of experienced thieves come up with a detailed plan on how they’re going to execute their mission. But of course, getting the gold isn’t going to be easy. There are obstacles like the bank’s security officer (Gustavo) and the vault’s impossible mechanism where if someone enters the vault, water will continuously run until the intruder drowns.

Also, they’ve only got 105 minutes to execute this plan while the country of Spain is distracted by the World Cup Final.

Will the band of thieves successfully get the gold, or will they fail their mission and all be arrested by the Spanish government? Even worse, will they die while trying to accomplish this impracticable operation?

If you thought Money Heist was action-packed and intense, you haven’t seen anything yet! The Vault will have you yelling at your screen and biting your nails with each scene that plays out.
