Stranger Things season 4 release date rumors: Is the new season coming in April 2022?

After months and months of waiting, the Stranger Things season 4 release date is on the way very soon! Executive producer Shawn Levy told Collider that the release will be announced before Aug. 13, 2021.

So, we know the Stranger Things season 4 release date is getting announced very soon, but it might not be exactly what Stranger Things fans want.

We’re all pulling for a 2021 release date for Stranger Things season 4 and have been since production on the season was delayed in March 2020. Is that going to happen? Well, a new rumor about the Stranger Things season 4 release date is casting doubt on the 2021 release date.

The rumor is, instead, pointing to a April 2022 release date for Stranger Things season 4.

Stranger Things season 4 release date rumors

April has long been mentioned as a likely release month for Stranger Things season 4. Well, there’s a new wrinkle to that rumor now. An unofficial Stranger Things Twitter account (@StrangerFilming) posted several pictures from what appears to be the set of Hawkins High School. There’s a flyer with a date, “April 26,” on the window in one of the pictures.

Because Stranger Things seasons usually mirror the date around when they are released, fans are assuming this means that Stranger Things season 4 will be released in April 2022. This has not been confirmed by Netflix, although the line of thinking does make sense.

Season 2 took place around Halloween in the show and was released around Halloween 2017. Season 3 took place around the Fourth of July Weekend, and it was released on July 4, 2019. So, one would assume that, if season 4 takes place around April 26, that would mean the season is coming in April 2022. That’s the line of thinking anyway.

As mentioned, this isn’t even the first time that April has been mentioned with Stranger Things season 4. I will not say more.

I’m still hoping we get to see Stranger Things season 4 before April 2022. It wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility to assume the season will not match up with any date, time of year, or holiday. We know that happened with season 2 and season 3, but it doesn’t have to happen for season 4.
