Brand New Cherry Flavor, Netflix’s upcoming limited series, promises to be an interesting horror show based on the title alone. Let’s see if the series is as weirdly compelling as the title.

After the summer success of the Fear Street trilogy appearing on Netflix, it looks like the streamer is planning on ending on stronger screamer note with the upcoming horror limited series, Brand New Cherry Flavor.

The trailer for the series was released and it certainly seems creepy yet intriguing all at the same time.

Taking place in 1990s Hollywood, the series, according to the synopsis, follows:

"“Lisa N. Nova (Rosa Salazar) comes to LA dead set on directing her first movie. But when she trusts the wrong person and gets stabbed in the back, everything goes sideways, and a dream project turns into a nightmare. This particular nightmare has zombies, hitmen, supernatural kittens, and a mysterious tattoo artist who likes to put curses on people. And Lisa’s going to have to figure out some secrets from her own past in order to get out alive.”"

Based on the trailer, there’s definitely a major Neon Demon sort of vibe. Though, with a title like Brand New Cherry Flavor, the whole affair is probably going to be way more out there than anyone would suspect. Also, who doesn’t love zombies, witches and kittens? Add those three together and it looks like the limited Netflix series is going to hit some sort of trifecta of perfection.

In addition to Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel), the cast is made up of Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Catherine Keener (Get Out) and Jeff Ward (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Recurring in the series are Hannah Levien (The Horseman), Leland Orser (ER) and Patrick Fischler (Mad Men). Brand New Cherry Flavor hails from the minds of Nick Antosca (Channel Zero) and Lenore Zion (Billions).

Curious about what Brand New Cherry Flavor is all about before its television debut? Good news! It’s also a book. The whole limited series is an adaptation of the novel by Todd Grimson, which was released back in 2011 under the same name. Like to read the book before watching the TV series/movie it’s based on? Then it can be found in paperback or hardcover before it hits Netflix.

Brand New Cherry Flavor will premiere on Netflix on Aug. 13. You can watch the trailer below.
