Outer Banks season 2 premiered on July 30 and reunited us with our beloved Pogues. Unfortunately, the new season put our favorite — and least favorite — Outer Banks characters in obscene amounts of danger. Who survived to see season 3?

That’s the multi-million-dollar question in Outer Banks season 2, which saw the fight for the gold and another valuable relic increase to complicated new heights. From John B and Sarah’s time on the run in the Bahamas to the Pogues playing detective back home, the pressure was on.

The new season of the Netflix original series upped the ante and put the fate of every Pogue on the line. Not to mention, some characters we thought were gone might just find a way to make a shocking comeback. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves with the spoilers.

If you’re looking for some clarity on who dies in Outer Banks season 2, you have come to the right place. We’re sharing in explicit detail who doesn’t make it out of the second season alive and who we’ll actually continue to see orbiting around the Pogues in the future.

WARNING: Spoilers from Outer Banks season 2 ahead!

Who died in Outer Banks season 2?

Although season 2 featured multiple close calls for each of our Pogues, rest easy knowing none of them actually die. Well, Sarah kind of died for a minute there, but she pulled through her gunshot wound (from Rafe!) when it was all said and done.

For those trying to keep track, here’s more of how things almost went south for the Pogues: Kiara nearly drowned in a sewer, Pope had a near-fatal allergic reaction to wasps, JJ was knocked out cold on the Coastal Venture and John B fought an alligator and was roughed up in jail.

Of course, Ward faking his death was one of the biggest moments of the season. Even though he didn’t actually blow himself up on the My Druthers (more on what happened with that here), Ward almost dies again during a fight with John B on the Coastal Venture.

The only two people who really die in Outer Banks season 2 are Limbrey’s brother and lackey, Renfield, who’s killed by none other than Limbrey. Also, Ward continued to tie up loose ends like a true villain and killed Gavin, the pilot who knew the truth about Rafe killing Sheriff Peterkin.

There’s a bonus reveal at the season’s end about a character who had previously been presumed dead, but we won’t spoil the information for you here. After all, we’re talking about who died in Outer Banks season 2, not who somehow comes back from the dead.
