The new Netflix original series Tattoo Redo isn’t your typical makeover series. In this series, people who have made horrible decisions about tattoos are brought in by a friend or family member to have the ink redone.

Some of the most talented tattoo artists will take these disasters and turn them into works of art. The catch, the person receiving the ink doesn’t decide what the cover-up art will be; the friend or family member who brings them in gets to choose.

Keeping things fresh, as always, Netflix has taken another reality genre and twisted it into a very relevant and interesting series. Tattoo Redo is hosted by comedian Jessimae Peluso, who has confessed to having her own tattoo disasters. She keeps things fun with her comedic commentary.

Viewers who have tattoos they regret will sympathize with the people featured in this series. Some of the subjects have had to live with their poor tattoo decisions for years.

Tattoo Redo synopsis

Tattoo Redo will remind you a bit of Queer Eye, but instead of lifestyle and fashion makeovers, this series features horrible tattoos being remade into works of art. Five of the top tattoo artists, who are extremely gifted, will be on hand to create beautiful new tattoos the client can be proud of. Matt Beckerich, Rose Hardy, Tommy Montoya, Miryam Lumpini and Twig Sparks are the artists featured, and each one brings their unique style to the series.

The person with the awful tattoo is brought in by a friend or family member who knows the regrets surrounding the terrible ink. Host Peluso is great at taking jabs at the clients for their poor decision-making, resulting in the regretted tattoos. The client knows they are coming to this studio to receive cover-up ink, but what they don’t know is that they don’t get to choose the tattoo. The person who brought them in does.

The official synopsis from Netflix:

"When terrible tattoos are too much to bear…you cover them up. Five of the most talented tattoo artists in the business take on some of the most embarrassing tattoos and turn them into amazing masterpieces. While comedian and host Jessimae Peluso teases the clients over their lack of judgment, in a fun twist, what they don’t know is that the person that brought them in is going to choose the Tattoo Redo! Will they love it or hate it?"

Tattoo Redo trailer

The trailer gives a good look into the workings of this series. You see examples of the horrible tattoos that are being covered up. This is a great leap of faith for the client as they trust the person who has brought them to the series to make a better choice than they did in choosing a tattoo that will be permanently on their body.
