Manifest somehow still not saved by Netflix despite massive streaming numbers

If you’re a Manifester who has been watching the canceled NBC series on Netflix, you’re probably pretty stymied by the lack of a Manifest season 4 pickup by Netflix.

Since NBC dropped the axe on the fan-favorite drama in June, the show’s arrival on Netflix for streaming has been met with wild success that the network couldn’t have ever imaged. Manifest spent an almost record-breaking tenure at the peak of the Top 10, only to be shut out by Virgin River.

Obviously, no one could have predicted Manifest would find such sustained success post-cancellation — except for the loyal Manifesters, of course — but the series has only managed to gather more and more new fans in the face of its bad luck rather than crashing and burning.

According to Deadline, Nielsen reports that Manifest has the bragging rights of being the most-streamed show for the week after its cancellation, bringing in an enviable almost 2.5 billion — billion — streaming minutes for just two seasons available on Netflix.

Will Netflix pick up Manifest for season 4?

For comparison, that figure eclipses such popular streaming powerhouses as Loki, Lucifer and Downton Abbey. With just 29 episodes available on Netflix (the third season still isn’t streaming), Manifest was able to come out on top as the most-streamed show against all odds.

Now, if that doesn’t show a sign of inimitable good faith, then what does? What does it take for the series to prove itself as a viable option for any streaming service or network to rethink the decision to save it from cancellation? What’s not clicking?

NBC’s decision to pull the plug on the low-rated but cult favorite series still doesn’t make much sense, and Netflix’s pass on picking up Manifest season 4 seems like it should be reconsidered at this point. The math certainly is not mathing on this one.

Thankfully, creator Jeff Rake hasn’t stopped the fight just yet. He has spoken about finding a way to turn what was supposed to be a six-season story arc into a wrap-up movie and, in turn, finding another outlet to bring the fans closure. But given these dominating streaming numbers, he shouldn’t have to compromise his creative vision.

Rake is also still reaching out to the legion of Manifesters online with watch parties and live tweets, keeping the #SaveManifest hashtag as active, loud and impassioned as the billions of minutes viewers spent watching the show. Hopefully, these numbers and efforts will amount to something worthwhile.

Stay tuned for more Manifest news and updates, and keep streaming on Netflix!
