Does Josh die in the Fear Street trilogy?

The Fear Street trilogy comes to a close with Part 3 of the movie series which launches viewers into 1666 back before Shadyside was cursed. It’s a twisting tale with surprises and terrors around every corner. But it’s only one half of the movie. We, of course, have to have a final showdown that’ll determine whether the witch’s curse will take Deena, Sam, and Josh.

While the love story between Deena and Sam has been an integral part of these films, so has Josh. As Deena’s brother, he has seen her through everything as they’ve worked to save the girl she loves and the rest of the town.

Spoilers ahead for the Fear Street trilogy

Josh was the only one of their friend group to survive Part 1 besides Sam and Deena. As a clutch member of the team, he’s the one who has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the Shadyside Killers and used what he knows to help build a plan to stop the witch.

While he isn’t the main target of the curse, his sister and her girlfriend have been, so he’s done what he’s can to end this fight alongside them. There’s, however, been collateral damage along the way, and no one is safe from the curse that plagues their town.

Does Josh die in Fear Street Part 3?

Thankfully, Josh doesn’t fall victim to the curse or the killers. In fact, the final showdown that takes place in the Shadyside Mall is based on his plan. He’s the brains of the operation whose strategy results in a battle royal between the killers that’s a highlight of Part 3.

It’s Josh’s love for Deena that helps her push through and end things once and for all. By giving her the cheat code that always makes him feel better, giving him extra lives to see him through tough situations, he gives her something to hold onto. A verbal touch stone that helps buoy her resolve the same way it does his.

In the end, it’s their combined efforts–along with C. Berman and Martin P. Franklin–that saves the town and brings the curse’s hold on Shadyside to a close.
