Who replaced Chrissy Teigen in Never Have I Ever season 2?
By Reed Gaudens
If you have started binge-watching Never Have I Ever season 2 and are expecting to hear Chrissy Teigen’s voice narrate an episode, you will be sadly disappointed.
Of course, tennis legend John McEnroe returns in Never Have I Ever season 2 to narrate Devi’s (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) story, and last season, Andy Samberg’s voice appeared in one episode to give some insight into the life of Devi’s nemesis-slash-love-interest Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison).
Chrissy Teigen was set to lend her voice to an episode centered on Darren Barnet’s heartthrob swimmer Paxton Hall-Yoshida. But why didn’t the model show up in season 2?
Here’s why Teigen’s voice isn’t heard in Never Have I Ever season 2 and who stepped in to replace the star in the Paxton-centric episode.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest season of Never Have I Ever ahead!
Is Chrissy Teigen in Never Have I Ever season 2?
No, Chrissy Teigen does not appear in the latest season of Never Have I Ever. Although the model and Cravings mogul was set to narrate an episode of the season, the star stepped down in the wake of online controversy in June.
Due to allegations of cyberbullying from resurfaced old tweets, Teigen took a step back from the planned voice role, though she later issued a public apology and took accountability for her past actions. Teigen previously appeared in a 2015 episode of Never Have I Ever co-creator Mindy Kaling’s comedy series The Mindy Project.
Who narrates Never Have I Ever season 2, episode 3?
After basically hitting rock bottom with school and his personal life post-Devi cheating on him and getting hit by a car, Paxton looks to get his life together in episode 3. Model, activist and designer Gigi Hadid steps in to narrate his pursuit to get his college goals back on track.
Gigi Hadid’s voice role was kept under wraps until the new season started streaming, but she was the perfect choice to take the reins from Teigen. As she explains in the episode’s opening, she relates to Paxton’s tendency to be overlooked and underestimated based on outside optics.
Late in the episode, Andy Samberg makes a brief narration cameo as the inner monologue of Ben and shares a funny moment of sparring with Hadid. Hopefully, if Never Have I Ever returns for season 3, both Gigi Hadid and Andy Samberg will reprise their narration roles.
