Netflix needs to make a Virgin River Christmas special

Naturally, we’re all still reeling from Virgin River season 3, which made its grand return this July and continued to stir the pot for all of our beloved Virgin River favorites. Between trying to figure out who shot Jack and that big baby bombshell, season 3 didn’t pull any punches.

But we can’t help for long something a little bit lighter and more magical from Virgin River that’s still full of the same drama and romance we have come to adore from the Netflix original series. It begs the question: Why haven’t the holidays come to Virgin River?

Now, that’s not to throw shade at the town’s very special annual celebration of the Lumberjack Games, which found Mel and Jack unleashing their issues while suspended many feet in the air, but just imagine the town covered in snow and decorated for the holidays.

Since it’s never too soon to start thinking about the holiday season, we’re putting in our official request for a Virgin River Christmas special from Netflix. And we’re not picky — we would accept a Christmas in July spectacular or a full-on Christmastime comfort watch.

Will there be a Virgin River Christmas special?

As of this writing, there are no concrete plans for Netflix to release a Christmas special for the hit original series. Nothing has been announced by the streamer and no holiday specials for the series appear to be in the works ahead of the rumored season 4.

However, now would be the perfect time for the town to slow down and celebrate Christmas, considering all of the tragedy that the characters dealt with in season 3. Sure, a sharp left turn to the holidays could be jarring given where we left off, but we think our faves need a little Christmas right this very minute.

Whether it’s a special episode released ahead of an upcoming season or an episode integrated within a season, Netflix should bring Christmas to Virgin River and allow the series to reach its full romantic potential. There aren’t enough Christmas episodes these days, and what show would be better suited to host a holiday celebration?
