She’s Gotta Have It

Of course, after talking about shows like Sex/Life and Bridgerton, two of the hands-down sexiest shows on Netflix right now, bringing up any other title will make them look tame in comparison. But that doesn’t make the comedy-drama series She’s Gotta Have It any less sexy because it’s definitely one of the sexiest Netflix shows you can add to your watch list.

Based on the 1986 movie of the same name by Spike Lee, the Netflix series adaptation of She’s Gotta Have It stars DeWanda Wise, who also stars in the Netflix films Someone Great and Fatherhood, as artist Nola Darling. Just guess what the “it” she’s gotta have is… Nola’s journey of self-discovery begins as she dates different people in Brooklyn and puts her experience into her art.

She’s Gotta Have It first premiered on Netflix in 2017 and followed up with its second, and unfortunately final, season in 2019. All 19 episodes of the series were directed by Spike Lee, and a vast majority of the episodes were written by women. The series received mostly positive reviews from critics, with most praising its feminist perspective and fun tone.

It’s a shame that She’s Gotta Have It wasn’t able to garner a larger audience to keep the sexy series around for long than two short seasons. But even though the series has been canceled, it’s never too late to check out a series they you may not have added to your watch list when it was first released. Turn the heat and the laughs up with She’s Gotta Have It on Netflix.
