Best Netflix shows on Rotten Tomatoes

Some Netflix shows you know you’re going to watch as soon as they come out. They either have an actor you love as part of the cast or the premise is right up your alley. Other times, you need a little help before you decide whether to give the new Netflix show a shot or not. That’s where Rotten Tomatoes comes in.

The site takes critics’ opinions and combines them together to provide a rating from 0-100%. Most shows fall somewhere between 60-80% approval rating, but the really good shows, the shows that critics and fans have practically lost their minds over, have an approval rating somewhere in the high 80s or 90s.

The top Netflix shows on this list all have a rating between 89-100%, so while they may not be your cup of tea (whether a show is “good” or not is entirely subjective), they are shows that have been rated, reviewed, and loved by multiple critics.

When you’re trying to figure out whether to give a show a chance or not, that can end up being the thing that makes you press play on your remote.

Some Netflix shows on this list won’t surprise you. No one should be surprised that Stranger Things, BoJack Horseman, and The Crown have high ratings. Others may surprise you. I was definitely shocked by the ratings of a few.

Before we get started, know that the shows on this list are in no particular order and that the list may not include every Netflix show with a high rating (there are a lot of shows!!), but it does include a big chunk of them.

Alright, let’s take a look at the top 25 Netflix shows ranked by best Rotten Tomatoes score, starting with Peaky Blinders.

Top Netflix shows: Peaky Blinders

When a show has been on as long as Peaky Blinders, you expect it to have a lower rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not everyone can love it, and more often than not, a show doesn’t do as well in the later seasons as it does when it first starts out. That is not the case with Peaky Blinders.

There are five seasons of Peaky Blinders, and it still has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That is amazing. But it’s also not that surprising considering how good Peaky Blinders has continually been since day one. While the writers can definitely take credit for that, the cast is also a big part of the reason it’s still one of the best shows streaming today.

When you have Cillian Murphy, Helen McCory (RIP), Paul Anderson, and Sophie Rundle, not to mention a supporting cast with Tom Hardy, Charlotte Riley, Adrien Brody, Annabelle Wallis, Sam Neill, Sam Claflin, and Aiden Gillen, it’s really hard for a show to be bad. One could say it’s impossible.

Peaky Blinders follows a gangster family in Birmingham, England that’s run by Thomas Shelby. They run up against the police, the government, other gangs, and problems of their own making. As the Shelby family expands their enterprise, they gain more power, but with that power comes even bigger problems. They must solve those problems if they want to be one of the most powerful families in the world.

If you haven’t watched Peaky Blinders, what are you waiting for? As long as you’re ok with watching a good amount of violence, it will soon become one of your favorite shows on Netflix.
