Was the Sex/Life episode 3 shower scene real?

If you have already binge-watched the steamy new Netflix original series Sex/Life, then you’re well aware the romantic drama is heating up summer in a big way. Between its racy sex scenes that leave little to the imagination and a particular shower scene that has the internet talking, the series has quickly made its presence known by pushing the envelope.

Sarah Shahi stars in Sex/Life as Billie Connelly, a desperate housewife (to reference a sexy series of yesteryear) feeling restless in her life as a suburban mother of two. As she looks back to her past relationship with ex-boyfriend Brad (Adam Demos), the revelations of her formerly adventurous sex life leave her husband Cooper (Mike Vogel) grasping at straws.

Of course, in Cooper’s bid to save his marriage and scope out the competition that’s still at the top of his wife’s mind, he follows Brad in New York City. In Sex/Life episode 3, Cooper’s stalking takes him to the luxury gym where Brad works out and his post-workout shower. Once again, the scene leaves very little to the imagination as Adam Demos appears to go full-frontal nude.

Ever since the series dropped its eight-episode first season, viewers have been wondering whether the Australian actor, who also appeared in the Netflix original romantic comedy film Falling Inn Love, actually showed off his real penis or if the scene used a body double or a prosthetic. Here’s what the Sex/Life star had to say about the revealing scene.

Was Adam Demos really naked in Sex/Life episode 3?

After the release of Sex/Life on Netflix, Demos spoke at length about the new show, and episode 3’s very NSFW scene was a major conversation point. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Demos admitted he was on board with the nudity and debunked any question that he used a body double in the shower scene or at any other part of the season.

Demos said:

"I was okay with it because you read the script and know what you’re getting yourself into from the start, so I don’t think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute. That doesn’t mean you can’t have discussions about comfort level, which they allowed us to have – and with the intimacy coordinator, so it felt a lot safer."

However, creator and showrunner Stacy Rukeyser spoke with Collider about the episode 3 shower scene and its necessity to the plot for Cooper’s character arc, but she declined to divulge if Demos wore a prosthetic penis, allowing the actor to lead that conversation himself. As of yet, he hasn’t shot down those rumors either way, so we can only assume the jaw-dropping scene was the real deal.
