The Fear Street film series, based on the books by R.L. Stine, is set to be the horror event of the summer on Netflix.

Take a group of teens from a town named Shadyside, place them against a backdrop full of terror, and you have the formula for what’s going to make these films the buzz of the internet.

It’s been awhile since content geared towards teens, that wasn’t a rom-com or a television drama, captured mainstream attention, but we think Fear Street will do it with three movies set in different time periods that explains exactly why these kids are running for their lives.

Our story begins in the ’90s, as many stories are starting to do now that we’re 30 years removed from the start of the decade that gave us pop idol Britney Spears, the popularity of grunge and Scream. Here’s what to expect from the Fear Street trilogy.

Fear Street Part 1: 1994

Life is hard enough as it is as a teenager, but growing up in Shadyside isn’t your run of the mill of coming-of-age narrative. When you’re from a place where murder is as common as a Friday night football game, it brings new meaning to dead-end town. But when Deena, Sam and their friends unexpectedly wake an old evil, they’re made aware of a piece of the town’s history that’s got them running for their lives. Will they be the next victims of the killing streak in Shadyside? Only time will tell.

Fear Street: 1994 will be available to stream Friday, July 2.

Fear Street Part 2: 1978

Summer sleep-away camp is supposed to be a time full of teenage indulgence. It’s not all campfire songs and canoe trips around the lake as there are plenty of kids looking to score and have a good time with very little strings attached. But the point is fun, not murder, and yet there’s a Shadyside resident who didn’t get the memo. The kind of screaming they’re interested in hearing isn’t joyous or ecstatic, it’s fearful and dripping with horror. Welcome to Camp Nightwing, where you’re bound to have a killer time!

Fear Street: 1978 will be available to stream Friday, July 9.

Fear Street Part 3: 1666

1666 bears the mark of the beast, which is fitting for the year Sarah Fier unleashed her curse. It’s a tale that every Shadysider has heard since they were young, but all legends come from somewhere and brim with unsettling truth. Sarah’s story is no different, and if the teens of Shadyside thought they knew what happened to her, they’ll be surprised by what history left out. Hers is a tale that will change them forever.

Fear Street: 1666 will be available to stream Friday, July 16.
