Will Neflix pick up Manifest? Manifest season 4 renewal update

Manifest season 4 might not be happening at NBC, but the studio, creative team and actors behind the show are not ready to ride off into the sunset without a fight.

From the moment, the show was canceled by NBC, all parties involved with the show have been working around the clock to find a new home for the sci-fi drama. Although NBC has taken itself out of the race and made it’s clear it has no intentions to bring the show back, fans are hoping the show’s strong performance since arriving on Netflix could be the saving grace for the beloved drama.

It’s been some time since Netflix last saved a show from cancellation; however, Manifest is making a strong argument for being a show worthy of being saved. Since the show’s first two seasons dropped on Netflix, the series has held onto the No. 1 spot in the Netflix Top 10. This strong showing has led many to wonder if there might be more to the conversation than just fan campaigning and with good reason.

Why was Manifest canceled by NBC?

It is unclear why NBC chose to cancel Manifest, but the decision seems to have ultimately come down to the show’s ratings. While the show has a popular fandom, Manifest once again ranked as one of NBC’s lowest-rated and least-watched dramas during the 2020-21 season.

While NBC has shown some of its ratings-challenged series some leniency in the past, Manifest‘s continued struggle to establish a sizable audience seems to have been too much for NBC to overlook.

Will Netflix save Manifest?

No official decision has been made by Netflix as to whether it will renew Manifest for season 4, but it does look like Netflix is currently engaging in active conversations with Warner Bros. TV about ordering Manifest season 4.

According to a new report from Deadline, Netflix and Warner Bros. TV are in ongoing conversations with Netflix said to be actively evaluating the financials and viability of saving the show. It also doesn’t hurt that the studio and streamer have previously collaborated on a similar situation in the form of Lucifer, which was also canceled after three seasons by a broadcast network and made the move over to Netflix shortly after.

The fact that the two parties are said to be in active conversations seems to bode well for Manifest‘s odds of avoiding cancellation. It also doesn’t hurt that the series is quickly proving it can get Netflix subscribers talking and already has an end-date mapped out as its creator Jeff Rake has been clear in envisioning the show as a six-season series.
