Bridgerton season 2 set photo teases reunion of fan-favorite couple

Ever since Bridgerton season 1 dropped on Netflix in December 2020, fans have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Bridgerton season 2 and are understandably eager for any and every update on the status of the breakout series.

Although there was much speculation on when exactly filming on the new season would begin, reports started circulating last month that filming had officially begun. The buzz began when photos from the set leaked to People offering fans their first look at Jonathan Bailey’s character Anthony Bridgerton on set with his new costar Simone Ashley, who is playing Anthony’s new love interest Kate Sharma.

If there was ever any doubt that season 2 was officially underway, Nicola Coughlan is here to put those doubts to rest!

Taking to Instagram, the actress behind the character of Penelope Featherington shared what appears to be our first official photo from the set of season 2 which she used to tease the reunion of one of the show’s breakout couples.

“Polin: Year Two,” Coughlan captioned the new photo snapped on set with her co-star Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton on the show, a character who just so happens to hold a special place in the heart of Coughlan’s character Penelope.

Will Penelope and Colin get together in Bridgerton season 2?

Needless to say, one of the biggest questions as we look ahead to Bridgerton season 2 is whether the season might see Penelope and Colin finally act upon their underlying feelings for one another leading to the pair becoming an official couple. Nicola Coughlan’s photo from the set seems to suggest big things are ahead for Polin, as shippers have dubbed the couple; however, it seems unlikely that we’ll see the pair get together in season 2.

So far, each season of the show is following the corresponding book in the Bridgerton book series by author Julia Quinn and it is expected future seasons will continue to do the same.

Given that Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s love story unfolds in the fourth book in the Bridgerton franchise, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, it is likely fans will have to wait until season 4 of the franchise to see the pair officially give into their feelings unless Netflix decides to change its vision for the show.

Bridgerton season 2 release date

At this time, Netflix has not confirmed when exactly Bridgerton season 2 will arrive and we don’t anticipate the new season arriving before December 2021 at the soonest.

Should Netflix manage to complete production on time, there is a chance the streaming powerhouse could have season 2 ready to go in time for a Christmas 2021 release. However, it’s looking as though we could see Bridgerton delayed until early 2022.
