Shadow and Bone renewed for season 2 on Netflix

The day has finally come Shadow and Bone fans! Right at the top of Netflix’s Geeked Week, the series slid into a season 2 renewal.

We can practically hear the fandom screaming across the world as it’s been confirmed we’ll be going back to the Grishaverse for more adventures with Alina, the Crows, and the scorned Darkling.

The cast dropped the news to fans with a video declaring our summoning powers had worked and, through our strength and Milo’s, the series would be picked up for a season 2.

They also thanked everyone who’d fallen in love with the first season of the live-action adaptation of Leigh Bardugo‘s Grishaverse universe, making it possible for more of the story to be told.

Now all that’s left to do is countdown to season 2’s release on Netflix.

Shadow and Bone season 2 release date

With a second season for Shadow and Bone in development at Netflix, anticipation for the next installment is going to skyrocket. Not to mention fans are waiting for casting news on Wylan to come through since showrunner Eric Heisserer confirmed he will make his debut in season 2.

But when can we expect the new season to light up the streamer and bring fans crashing into a Siege and Storm–the second book in the Shadow and Bone trilogy–inspired plot? Well, we know it won’t be in 2021, so we’re setting our sights on 2022.

So far with the second season renewal news fresh and hot off the press, it’s unknown when filming will begin on season 2. When the filming starts we’ll have a better idea of when we should be expecting the season to drop on Netflix.

Right now, we’re going to assume the series will be missing its April premiere anniversary. There just doesn’t seem like there’d be enough time for the cast and crew to film, finish post-production, and do promotion for season 2 within that window.

However, a summer 2022 release isn’t out of the question. Perhaps, it might even be around this time next year that we find out what the Darkling has been up to with his Volcra pets and whether or not Alina and Mal have made their way to Ketterdam with the Crows.
