By Diana Nosa
Based on an unfortunate true event, Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey tells the story of a young girl from Tampa Bay, Florida who went missing but was able to escape from her abductor.
A case that should be closely dissected until the kidnapper is brought to justice winds up sullied by the fact that the majority of her town doesn’t believe her—except one detective. Now, McVey works with this detective to tell her truth, stop the serial killer, and prevent this kind of tragedy from happening to anyone else.
The 2018 film starring Ginny & Georgia actress Katie Douglas is highly praised by its audiences, scoring an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it’s clear to see why. Such a story shakes the core of many and brings awareness to a tragic issue that still runs rampant in this world. It’s truly a powerful movie.
