5 good movies on Netflix to watch in June 2021
June 2021 is mostly about some of the good Netflix TV shows, but there are a few movies on Netflix worth checking out. Here are the top five.
This month, it’s all about the Netflix Original Series coming to the streamer. Elite Season 4 drops partway through the month, and if you’re anything like me, that’s at the top of your binge-watch list.
Then there’s the likes of Too Hot Handle Season 2 and Black Summer Season 2. There really is something for everyone when it comes to TV shows. But what about movies on Netflix?
The good news is that there’s still some creat content arriving throughout the month. We’re breaking down the top picks, and some of these movies are fresh on Netflix and are worth giving a chance.
5 must-watch movies on Netflix in June 2021
We’re putting this list in release date order. There is something for all genre preferences, so release date order avoids any unintended favoritism.
Awake
Gina Rodriguez steps into the thriller genre with Awake. A mysterious catastrophe wipes out all form of electronics and removes the ability to sleep. It leads to global hysteria as scientists race against time to figure out a cure. After all, the fatal effects of insomnia aren’t removed by this inability to sleep.
Jill finds out that her daughter may be the key to everyone’s salvation. She has a duty to the world, but is she willing to put her children at risk?

Silver Linings Playbook
The next movie on our list is an older one, and the only non-Netflix Original Movie. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence star as two unlikely friends-turned-romantic partners. After getting out of a mental health facility, Pat looks to restart his life and get his wife back. He meets Tiffany, who helps him get his wife back as long as he helps her with a dance competition.
Of course, sparks start to fly between them, there’s a bet that happens, and there is a lot riding on succeeding in the dance competition. Oh, and there are a lot of hilarious arguments.

Fatherhood
While Elite Season 4 drops on June 18, you’ll also want to pay attention to Fatherhood. This is if you’re a Kevin Hart fan. After his wife dies the day after their daughter’s birth, a man has to step up and raise his daughter alone.
Of course, it’s a comedy. Expect plenty of laughter as this man figures out life as a single dad. There will also be some feel-good moments throughout.
Murder by the Coast
Do you like true crime documentaries? We’ll add one to the list of movies on Netflix to watch in June. Murder by the Coast follows the murder of Rocío Wanninkhof in the 1990s. It looks at the decades-old case from multiple perspectives, including judicial, police, and even gender.
While her mother’s former partner Dolores Vázquez was arrested, it came after a large outcry from the public. There was no evidence connecting her to Wanninkhof’s murder, leading to this series looking at whether she did it.

The Ice Road
Finally, it’s one of the movies on Netflix that really will end up being pure entertainment. After all, it’s a Liam Neeson thriller, and you pretty much know how these types of movies go. Laurence Fishbourne also stars.
The Ice Road follows an ice driver who leads an impossible rescue mission in the far northern regions of Canada after a diamond mine collapses. There are still miners trapped inside, but the water everywhere is starting to thaw and the rescue requires frozen ocean to save lives.
