Did Netflix cancel Julie and the Phantoms?

No, Netflix has not canceled Julie and the Phantoms yet. Not publicly, anyway. There are things that happen behind closed doors, but so far, we haven’t seen any of the creative team, crew, or cast sharing that Julie and the Phantoms has been canceled yet.

That’s good news for fans of the series because it’s been a long time since the first season came out. Obviously, the longer it drags on, the worse it gets. But, fans should continue to be optimistic about Julie and the Phantoms season 2!

Is there a season 2 of Julie and the Phantoms?

I think that we’ll see Julie and the Phantoms renewed for season 2 soon. Because the series has book counterparts, I’m hoping that Netflix, Kenny Ortega, and the creative team could be waiting on the book’s release to choose the direction for the new season.

So, that’s what I’m expecting the hold-up is with the renewal. Whatever Happens by Candace Buford is coming out on Aug. 3, 2021. Hopefully, we’ll have a much clearer picture about season 2 around that time or by that time.

Overall, I’m still feeling pretty good about Julie and the Phantoms. I mean, I still think there’s a chance that the Netflix original series is canceled. BUT, Julie and the Phantoms is really good, and fans seem to enjoy the show.

My hope is that Netflix has simply been waiting for COVID-19 restrictions to ease and then figure out how they will make season 2. Julie and the Phantoms, like many teen shows, only works with a big cast to simulate the high school and concert experience.

If we get the renewal soon, there’s a good chance that we could see Julie and the Phantoms season 2 on Netflix in 2022. I don’t think there’s enough time this year to get the season into production and released in 2021.

That’s obviously a bummer for fans of the series, but if Netflix renews the series for season 2, fans should just consider it a win for the series at this point.

Overall, I think the spring of 2022 would be the earliest we could possibly see the release date for season 2 on Netflix. Production needs to get going soon, like sometime this summer or early fall, if that’s going to happen.
