Netflix reveals the trailer for Wish Dragon, a new animated film

Netflix will take us on an adventure with its upcoming new movie, Wish Dragon. This American-Chinese animated comedy will be a great movie to watch with the whole family. Wish Dragon will be released on Netflix on June 11.

Wish Dragon follows Din (Jimmy Wong), a college student who comes upon a dragon, Long (John Cho), who is capable of granting wishes, according to Entertainment Weekly. It is easy to compare the film to the story of Alladin.

Appelhans has worked in the art department for other animated films such as Monster House, Coraline, The Princess and the Frog and Fantastic Mr. Fox.  He is also an award-winning children’s book illustrator.

The official trailer for Wish Dragon gives us a beautifully animated preview of Din and his life. He discovers an ancient teapot that contains Long, the wish-giving dragon. They travel the streets and skies of Shanghai while Din tries to use his three wishes to their fullest potential.

When Din was younger, his best friend moved away, and he thinks his greatest wish is to reunite with her. Long tells him he can’t make people fall in love, but this story seems to be more of reuniting friends than anything romantic.

Constance Wu, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Will Yun Lee, Jimmy O. Yang, Aaron Yoo, Bobby Lee, and Ronnie Chieng voice the rest of the characters in the movie.

This is the second animated movie from Sony Pictures Animation released on Netflix this year. The other film, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, was released on the streamer in April and has received great reviews.
