Bridgerton season 2 officially starts filming
By Renee Hansen
Lady Whistledown has been keeping us abreast of all of the goings-on regarding Bridgerton season 2. She neglected to inform us that the filming has commenced and our new leading lady has been seen on set.
People reported that Simone Ashley, who will play Kata Sharma in season 2, was seen on set with leading man Lord Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey. The second season will switch the focus from the love story of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Rege-Jean Page) to Anthony and his search for a bride.
Fans were sad to learn the Page would not be returning to the series as the Duke. This is because each of Julia Quinn’s novels focuses on an individual Bridgerton sibling, and this season will take its story from The Viscount Who Loved Me, which is Anthony’s story. And, the fact that Page is a sought-after actor who has been cast in other projects.
Bridgerton season 2 filming
The announcement was made over the weekend that Bridgerton started filming. Fans have been waiting for this news to release. The photo that was circulated showed Kate and Anthony attending a horserace with other cast members present.
The second book chronicling Anthony’s story gives us a deeper look into who Anthony is. The new season will show us more about Lord Bridgerton and his search for a bride. In an interview with Vogue, Bailey shared that Anthony is at a point in his life where he feels that falling in love isn’t something that will happen for him. He will probably marry, but it won’t be a love match. In season one, we saw Anthony and his secret relationship with Siena fall apart.
Many viewers didn’t like his treatment of his sister Daphne. But, it needs to be remembered that upon the death of his father, Anthony immediately took the title of Viscount and all the responsibilities that go along with it.
The Netflix original series has been a huge hit for the streamer. In its first 28 days, the series reached 82 million households around the world. In a bold move, Netflix has already renewed the series for seasons 3 and 4. If they follow the books, these seasons should focus on Benedict (Luke Thompson) and then Colin (Luke Newton).
