As May 2021 quickly approaches, Netflix is releasing tons of new shows and movies to start the month off with a proper bang. From thriller series like The Sons of Sam to the long-awaited continuation of the animated series Castlevania, the streaming giant is pulling out all the stops.
Among these titles is a couple of feel-good original series like The Upshaws. You’re definitely going to want to grab some popcorn for a family watch party. The series premieres on Netflix on May 12, 2021.

What is The Upshaws about?
The Upshaws is about a blended family full of different personalities and different light-hearted struggles.
Trying to avoid mistakes of the past, the family’s patriarch steps up to the plate by becoming a better husband and father to his beautiful family. There may be a couple of bumps and bruises along the way, but this dad and his family will overcome them all.

"A working-class Black family in Indiana strives for a better life and a happy home with juggling everyday struggles in this comedy series."
The Indiana-based family consists of Journey Christine as Maya Upshaw, Michael Estime as Tony, Jermelle Simon as Bernard Jr., Kim Fields as Regina, Diamond Lyons as Kelvin Mike Epps as Bennie, and American comedian Wanda Sykes as Lucretia.

The Upshaws’ first season will have a total of ten episodes of pure comedy for you to enjoy and will officially release May 12, only on Netflix.
