If apocalyptic comedies are your thing, we’ve got good news, Zombieland is coming to Netflix. The film grossed over $60 million within 17 days of the original release. Zombieland will be available to stream on Netflix on May 1, 2021.

Netflix is no stranger to zombie-themed movies and series. There are currently many choices on the streamer that have a zombie or apocalyptic storyline. Some of the most popular include The Walking Dead, iZombie, Black Summer, Z Nation, I am Legend and Day of the Dead Bloodline. Now Zombieland will be joining the ranks with its comedic twist on the genre.

The movie follows the story of a lone college nerd, Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), trying to making his way from Austin, TX to Columbus, Ohio, in a world overrun with zombies.  He meets up with the aggressive Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), who isn’t friendly but agrees to let Columbus tag along with him. They eventually meet up with sisters Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who we discover are con-artists.

They have all heard the rumors that Pacific Playland in Los Angeles is a zombie-free zone and agree to travel there together. The foursome arrives in LA, and Tallahassee talks them into visiting Bill Murray’s house. I won’t give anything away, in case you haven’t seen this film yet.

When can you watch Zombieland on Netflix?

Netflix will release Zombieland at 12:01 am PST on May 1. This is very early, or very late, to be getting your zombie movie fix, but no judgment here. If that time slot doesn’t work for you, be sure to click the Remind Me button on Netflix so the movie will be added to your queue.

One unique element to the film is how Columbus’s “Rules for Survival” appear as on-screen text each time he refers to one of the rules. The text pops up in 3D and will occasionally be accompanied by blood splatter.

If you are a fan of zombie comedies like Shaun of the Dead, Warm Bodies and The Return of the Living Dead, you are sure to enjoy Zombieland as well. Be sure to catch it on Netflix on May 1.

There’s another new zombie movie coming to Netflix in May 2021, and that’s Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead on May 21. Be sure to check out both Netflix new releases in May!
