You’re probably binge-watching all eight episodes of Shadow and Bone, but there are some great movies on Netflix to watch too!

Yes, I know. There’s no time for movies on Netflix this weekend. You’re watching and then rewatching Shadow and Bone. I get it. I’m there with you!

But, if you do want to watch something different, there are some great movies to check out. There weren’t many big releases that happened during the week. In fact, even the smaller releases didn’t stand out too much. It was all about that certain YA fantasy series at the end of the week.

This is a great chance to watch movies from the first-of-the-month drop that you likely skipped over at first. It’s time to pick out the top movies on Netflix to check out from April 24 to 25, 2021.

5 movies on Netflix you need to watch this weekend

Stowaway

There were a couple of releases during this week that you’ll want to pay attention to. The first is Stowaway, which is not the light space movie that you may have hoped for at first. It’s a heavy space thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Three crew members on a spaceship to Mars only think trying to create a sustainable life is going to be hard. They end up struggling with a fourth passenger who never intended to be on the spaceship taking up their oxygen and other resources. What will they all do?

Miss Sloane

Love Jessica Chastain? Then you’ll want to check out Miss Sloane, which arrived on Netflix at the start of the week. She stars as Elizabeth Sloane in this political thriller.

Elizabeth is a fierce lobbyist, fighting for gun control legislation. Of course, that means there are people who want to fight back, and the opposing party is willing to go into her personal life to do that. How safe is she from this intrusion?

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Need something a little lighter and looking for romance? The Time Traveler’s Wife dropped on Netflix at the start of the month. It’s one of the movies on Netflix you may have overlooked at first.

Rachel McAdams stars as a woman who falls in love with a time traveler (played by Eric Bana). She wants a life with him, but that’s not easy when he can’t control when he leaves, where he goes, or when he’ll return. It’s even harder when it comes to hope of a future. Can she make this relationship work?

Leprechaun

How about a horror movie starring Jennifer Aniston? Yes, before Friends, Aniston starred in the movie Leprechaun, and you can now watch it on Netflix. It’s not the greatest horror movie ever made, but it’s light-hearted entertainment for the weekend. Sometimes, that’s all you need!

Warwick Davis is the titular villain, a leprechaun who follows a man who steals gold coins from him home. The man locks the leprechaun away, but 10 years later he’s freed accidentally. Now the leprechaun is on a murderous rampage to get his gold back.

Yes Man

Need a Jim Carrey movie? You’ve got it! Yes Man is available on Netflix, and it’s going to be a fun way to end the weekend and get ready for a new week (and almost a new month!).

Yes Man is a little like Netflix’s Yes Day. Carrey plays Carl, a man with low self-esteem who agrees to take part in a challenge to improve his life. He has to say yes to everything for a whole year. What sort of trouble could he get himself in?
