Is there a Cassie Stoddart documentary on Netflix?
Netflix is the home to several really gripping and interesting true crime documentaries, including the newly-released Why Did You Kill Me?, among many others. The streaming service is arguably the place to find murder mystery docs, especially after they revived the classic show Unsolved Mysteries, which first debuted in 1987. If you’re looking for a real-life crime story to keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, Netflix has what you’re looking for.
Recently, the case of the late Cassie Stoddart has come up in conversation on the internet again, leaving many to wonder if there’s a documentary about her tragic murder on Netflix. In 2006, high school student Cassie Jo Stoddart was killed by two of her classmates while she was housesitting at her aunt and uncle’s house. Apparently, the 16-year-old murderers were inspired by the film Scream (1996), and recorded a videotape the night before to detail their horrendous plans.
The two murderers, who I purposefully will not name in order to avoid giving them any type of recognition or fame, were sentenced to life in prison without parole. Needless to say, the murder was a despicable act, and we can only hope Cassie’s family has been able to mourn her death in the years that have passed.
Cassie Stoddart documentary
Cassie Stoddart’s murder was understandably a huge case, but it doesn’t look like there are many documentaries out there dedicated to it. Instead, there is a 40-minute special from Reelz, which is available to watch for free on DailyMotion here, and an episode of Investigation Discovery’s Your Worst Nightmare titled “When The Lights Go Out” that covers the murder.
That being said, Netflix does not have a Cassie Stoddart documentary. We wouldn’t be surprised if the streaming service makes one at some point in the future, but as of now, there are no known plans for it.
