When is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?

Netflix’s new deal with Sony is set to start paying dividends for fans of the streaming platform starting at the top of 2022. Among the titles listed to make the streamer their home after their theater release is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.

The sequel to the Oscar-winning animated movie will return audiences to the world of Miles Morales, the teenage spidey who takes up the mantle after the Peter Parker in his universe dies tragically.

Expertly blending both 2D and 3D animation, 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a comics-inspired blast of riotous color that enthralled viewers with its visuals and compelling coming-of-age adventure story.

The film sadly left Netflix in December of 2020 just before Christmas day, but we’re hoping the Sony deal will see the movie’s return to the platform in 2022 along with its sequel.

Effective January 1, 2022, new Sony films released in theaters will have an 18-month window where they stream exclusively on Netflix. Deadline reports the deal includes select Sony library rights including previous entries to franchises the company has already established.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swings into theaters on June 2, 2023.

Originally, the movie was supposed to premiere in theaters in October 2022, but that was pushed back a few times because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other schedule changes.

When is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?

We probably won’t have to wait too long to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix. New Sony movies are getting released on Netflix about four months after they premiere in theaters.

If that holds true for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and we’re expecting that it will, we should see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on Netflix sometime in October 2023.

It could take up to six or seven months for the film to arrive on the streaming service. There is some variance with the release dates, especially for some of the bigger titles, but for now, you can expect to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse released on Netflix sometime in October, November, or December.
