This is a Robbery is coming to Netflix tonight, April 7
Who doesn’t like a good heist movie? But what if this time it wasn’t fictional? Sure, watching George Clooney and Brad Pitt steal from a casino is thrilling, but what if you could watch the story of two guys who actually pulled a successful heist in real life? That’s what This is a Robbery is all about.
This is a Robbery: The World’s Greatest Art Heist is a new docuseries coming to Netflix tonight. It tells the story of two men who disguised themselves as police officers and were let into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston when there was a report of a disturbance. Well, they ended up tying up the guards who let them in and stole 13 pieces of art. THIRTEEN!
It’s like going in to steal the Mona Lisa and then being like “yeah, that’s great and all, but why don’t we take a few more.” The art they stole ended up totaling half a billion dollars! Some of the most well-known paintings they took include The Concert by Johannes Vermeer (1 of only 34 paintings he ever created) and The Storm of the Sea of Galilee, Rembrandt’s only seascape.
The robbery took place on March 18, 1990, and now, with the help of this series, we get to take a deep dive into how these two guys pulled off one of the biggest art heists in history. Where did the art go? And who exactly stole it? You’ll have to watch and find out (or maybe it’s still a mystery!).
What time is This is a Robbery season 1 on Netflix?
The docuseries will hit Netflix at 12:01 am PT so those on the East Coast will have to stay up until 3:01 am or wait until later in the day to watch it. The series is split into four episodes and they will all be available to stream tonight.
Thank goodness this is not a weekly show where episodes come out once a week. Can you imagine getting to the end of episode one and having to wait a week to get more answers on who these guys were and how they stole all this art? It’d be excruciating!
Make sure to check out the trailer before watching the show tonight:
