Prank Encounters season 2 is coming to Netflix tonight, April 1

Perfectly timed with April Fool’s Day, Netflix’s Prank Encounters returns for more scares and laughs with its second season. Get ready to dive in when the second season of the Netflix original series drops on April 1!

Prank Encounters, if you didn’t know, can be described as a spiritual successor to the old SyFy series hosted by Tracy Morgan, Scarce Tactics. In Pranks Encounters, an unsuspecting “victim” is nominated by a friend/family member in order to get the absolute stuffing scared out of them.

Unlike Scare Tactics, which had multiple segments of people getting scared per episode, Prank Encounters goes all in on one victim getting scared over the course of half an hour. The first season the series was released back in October 2019, which was fitting. It’s a horror-themed show airing around Halloween.

Honestly, if there’s ever a day to release your prank television show, then you can’t really do better than April Fool’s Day. It’s probably some kind of rule when planning out when to release things, if you really think about it.

Despite some controversy surrounding the series at the time of its release, much like Scare Tactics before it Prank Encounters set up their “victims” with the promise of employment, and accusations of the victims being in on the prank, the series was popular enough at the time for a second season. Though, given that 2020 was such a disaster, it’s not that surprising that we’re getting season 2 of Prank Encounters in 2021.

What will be interesting is how you film a prank series in a COVID-safe environment without letting the person you’re pranking get onto you? That definitely remains to be seen, but if you want to see people getting scared in safe environment, then Prank Encounters drops on April 1 on Netflix.
