How many seasons of Outlander are there in total?

Outlander has released five seasons so far, but there are technically seven in total. The first set of 16 episodes is based on Gabaldon’s book Outlander or Cross Stitch as it’s called in the U.K., and the second installment consisting of 13 episodes is based on the novel Dragonfly in Amber that first aired in April 2016.

The 13-episode third and fourth seasons were based on Voyager and Drums of Autumn. Season 3 of Outlander aired in September 2017 and the fourth released in November 2018.

After that, the series was renewed for two more seasons, with the fifth, consisting of 12 episodes. It is based on the book The Fiery Cross coming out in February 2020. The sixth season, which will be based on A Breath of Snow and Ashes consisting of 12 entries, is set to premiere sometime in 2022.

Then on March 14, 2021, Outlander was renewed, long before its sixth run premieres, for a seventh season consisting of an additional twelve episodes taking their inspiration from An Echo in Bone. It’s anyone’s guess when that set of installments will show up.

Right now, there are four seasons of Outlander available on Netflix. Season 5 should arrive on the streaming service in May 2022.
