Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga: Best Original Song Oscar

The original song category has some outstanding tracks from some exceptional films. Judas and the Black Messiah, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and One Night in Miami are among the best the year had to offer and have seen a substantial amount of attention at awards season. The Life Ahead, a Netflix gem starring Hollywood legend Sophia Loren, was also a drop-dead fantastic feature from start to finish. But one nominee shocked everyone by making the list and could do so again on Oscar night.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is a comedy film from Netflix that stars Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams that was very much revered for its music. Many would not have expected the laugh riot ordeal to become something the Oscars saw fit to recognize, but several other entities, including The Grammy Awards and Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards, have also nominated the music from the movie. The song in question, “Husavik,” with music and lyric by Savan Kotecha, Fat Max Gsus, and Rickard Göransson, could shake things up with an unexpected victory.

The Life Ahead: Best Original Song Oscar

One Night in Miami’s “Speak Now” and Judas and The Black Messiah’s “Fight For You” are most assuredly standout favorites at the Oscar. The Trial of the Chicago 7′s “Hear My Voice” could easily take home the gold for the streaming powerhouse, but that’s not the only contender Netflix has in the competition this year when it comes to Best Original Song. The long-shot is Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, but there is another that looks ready to win the title on fight night.

The Life Ahead starring Sophia Loren made Netflix’s top 10 list in 37 countries and was a big hit with critics. While the performances and writing are top-notch, the song from the feature film nominated for Best Original Song is a beautiful track called “Io si” (Seen), with music by Diane Warren and lyrics by Diane Warren and Laura Pausini. The Critics Choice Awards and the Satellite Awards are among the many that have recognized its greatness, and the Golden Globes saw fit to give it the coveted honor of Best Original Song. Look for it to do the same and make some noise at the Oscars this year.
