5 Netflix movies that could win the 2021 Oscars

Netflix has become a significant factor for several years now when it comes to the Oscars, and in 2021, the streaming network managed to secure 35 much-deserved nominations. Several excellent titles from their impressive library made the cut this year, and many of the well-received nominees are the heavy favorites to win their category on the big night.

Mank, which took in an impressive ten nominations, is sure to bring home something before ist all said and done. The Trial of the Chicago 7 and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom also picked up a robust amount of nominations in several categories as well, leaving more than enough possibilities open for Netflix to add some more statues to its already crowded mantle of trophies.

The streaming service has been known to shock audiences time and time again as well as pulling off some serious upset at the prestigious ceremony. Out of all the entries, Netflix has in the fight at the event taking place on April 25, 2021, several incredibly impressive options could absolutely prove to be exceptional champions and shock the world.

Most people that follow these sort of things would have them at a pretty decent disadvantage going into the infamous awards night compared to the stacked competition, and it’s really no secret that many have already unjustly counted them out. This is definitely a mistake for several reasons as they should be revered as serious contenders and could very well take home the coveted accolade.

Over the Moon: Best Animated Feature Oscar

Pixar has been a force to be reckoned with in the Animated Feature category at the Oscars. Many of their superb titles have taken home the gold statue, and they have two in contention this year. Onward feels less likely to do any damage here, but Soul has to be considered the number one contender for the accolade. A Shaun The Sheep Movie: Farmegeddon is a wild card, and Wolfwalkers could bring Apple its first Oscar.

But Over the Moon feels like the one that will stand tall on the big night. The animation is on point, and the execution is nothing short of exceptional. Its heartfelt story and adventurous narrative, along with its wonderfully developed characters, make it a must-watch affair. Don’t be surprised if Netflix’s animated endeavors raise their hand when the winner is announced at the Oscars for Best Animated Feature.
