British actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes stars as the fabled private detective Sherlock Holmes in the Netflix original series The Irregulars, and we are super excited to see how he brings the historic fictional character to life.

The thespian is definitely no stranger to the scene, as he has starred in some unmistakably incredible shows and films you definitely know and love. Get to know more about him as we tell you all about the English actor.

Henry Lloyd-Hughes was born in Westminister, England in August 1985. That means he is currently 35 years old. His mother was an actress and so was his younger brother Ben Lloyd-Hughes, who starred in the dystopian film Divergent. Safe to say that the acting bug runs in the family.

Henry has been in the acting business for quite some time. With an array of performances in theatre, television, film, and even a couple of video games, Lloyd-Hughes has become an established actor over his astonishing 17-year career.

The 6’1″ actor first appeared in small roles in numerous British television shows including Murphy’s Law, M.I. High, Parade’s End, and teen comedy series The Inbetweeners. 

Henry Lloyd-Hughes also made appearances in plenty of films including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005, Anna Karenina in 2012, and Now You See Me 2 in 2016.

Lloyd-Hughes is known mostly for his role as Aaron Peel, the main antagonist in the second season of the BBC America original series Killing Eve.

Showing no signs of stepping away from the camera any time soon, in 2020 Lloyd-Hughes was cast as Sherlock Holmes in The Irregulars, and he knows that playing the iconic detective is no easy feat.

In an interview with The Guardian, the actor talked about his rendition of Sherlock compared to previous ones:

"I don’t think any other version has had Sherlock this aware of creating his own myth. […] This Sherlock is so far from any of the freewheeling, super-sassy genius versions of the character."

Super-sassy? Interesting. It’s clear to see that Netflix users are in for a wild ride when Lloyd-Hughes hit our screens.
