Those who frequent the Children & Family section on Netflix have probably seen the title Yes Day pop up numerous times while trying to find something for everyone to watch. While the comedy, which stars Jennifer Garner and Edgar Rodriguez, hit the streaming service on March 12, it’s still the reigning champ a week later with its #1 spot on Netflix‘s Top 10 list. Without a doubt, this cute movie looks fun and entertaining, but is it okay for all ages to watch? Let’s get into it.

But first, let’s break down what Yes Day is even about.

What is Yes Day on Netflix about?

Yes Day is helmed by acclaimed director Miguel Arteta (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, The Good Girl), who has experience making both children’s movies and dramas for adults. The story follows two parents named Allison and Carlos who, after pressure from their kids, decide to participate in a “Yes Day,” where they can’t say no to anything their three children ask them for 24 hours.

As you’d imagine, chaos ensues, as they agree to things like opening up the windows while driving through the car wash and wearing silly makeup and clothes out in public. Allison (Garner) struggles to see eye to eye with her teenage daughter Katie (Jenna Ortega), and Carlos (Rodriguez) realizes he’s not as young as he once was.

Ultimately, Allison and Carlos come to the conclusion that their kids are the most important people in their lives, so they need to loosen up in order to connect with them.

Is Yes Day okay for kids to watch?

Like we mentioned, Yes Day is a family movie targeted for children. According to IMDb, its official rating is PG, meaning parental guidance is suggested. The Parents Guide on IMDb explains that there is no profanity, nudity, violence, or drugs/alcohol. There are instances of the phrase “hooking up” mentioned, and there’s supposedly a mention of “twerking.”

Of course, it’s up to the parent or guardian to decide what a child is allowed to watch, but we’d say Yes Day is very child-friendly. If you’d like to take a closer look, you can check out the trailer below.
