From the moment Lucifer season 5 part 1 released on Netflix in August 2020, Lucifans have been anxiously counting down the days until the arrival of the next batch of new episodes.

While Lucifer season 4 arrived in its entirety with the entire dropping at once, Netflix tried something a bit different with season 5. Rather than releasing the entire season at once, Netflix decided to split the season into two halves with eight episodes dropping last summer and another eight still to come.

Notice the phrasing in that last sentence as it’s the key answer to the question at the heart of this post. We say still to come because Netflix has unfortunately not released the second batch of episodes of Lucifer season 5 with no new episodes available for viewers to enjoy as of March 2021.

Why aren’t there new Lucifer episodes this March on Netflix?

So why exactly aren’t there new Lucifer season 5 episodes available to stream on Netflix in March 2021?

A large part of the delayed release of new episodes of Lucifer is connected to the delays caused by the ongoing pandemic. Like many shows, production on Lucifer was forced to come to a sudden stop in early 2020 causing a delay in the filming on the second half of season 5’s episodes.

This delay has prevented new episodes from arriving on Netflix thus far, but the good news is with each passing month we’re getting closer and closer to the arrival of new episodes! With filming complete on the season, new episodes of Lucifer should be making their way to Netflix sometime in the near future.

In the meantime, we can at least keep busy by re-watching all the episodes currently streaming!
