The story follows Ma Rainey, an influential blues singer and offers up a well-crafted dramatization of a turbulent session in the recording studio that took place in Chicago in the 1920s.

Along with Boseman and Davis, the film’s talented cast also includes Glynn Turman, Colman Domingo, Michael potts, Jonny Coyne, Taylour Paige, Jeremy Shamos, Dusan Brown, and Joshua Harto.
